For its first outing of the season in Serie A, Naples had to wait before making the difference on the Genoa pitch. Long held by a well-organized Genoese team, Napoli struggled to really get the game going and found themselves in difficulty in a game that was far from spectacular. The Italian champions were finally able to count on Kevin De Bruyne to break the deadlock.

The Belgian was thus the great architect of the Neapolitan success (2-0). The Belgian midfielder first opened the scoring with a powerful goal before delivering an assist for the second goal in the last ten minutes, allowing Napoli to leave Genoa with the three points.
