The scenario was mentioned in recent hours, it is now official: PSG-Rennes will not be played at the Parc des Princes this Sunday. As was revealed since the end of the afternoon, due to the very degraded state of the Parisian pitch at the Parc des Princes making a football match impossible, the LFP decided to reverse the match. The match counting for the first day of Ligue 1 will therefore be played at Roazhon Park, Sunday August 23 at 8:45 p.m.
The LFP published its official press release this Wednesday, in which it explains the reasons for this decision. “Informed on August 17 by Paris Saint-Germain of the state of the pitch at the Parc des Princes, the LFP proceeded on the morning of August 19 to a visit by a specialized design office and a delegate to carry out an in-depth examination of the playing area. At the end of this examination, it was noted that the current state of the pitch did not ensure the safety of the players. Meeting on August 19, the Competitions Commission therefore decided that the meeting cannot be held at the Parc des Princes. The latter, after noting the impossibility for Paris Saint-Germain to organize this match in a fallback stadium, received guarantees from Stade Rennais to be able to ensure the organization of the match counting for the first day this Sunday, August 23 at 8:45 p.m. The Competitions Commission therefore decides to reverse the match which will therefore be held at Roazhon Park this Sunday August 23 at 8:45 p.m. The LFP thanks Stade Rennais, Rennes town hall and the Ille-et-Vilaine Prefecture for making the meeting possible. »
