The summers follow one another and are the same for Benjamin Pavard. A year ago, the Frenchman was already looking for a way out when Cristian Chivu and Inter let him know that they were not counting on him. Especially after the arrival of Manuel Akanji. Courted by LOSC, his former club, the French international finally headed to the south of France by joining OM in the form of a loan with an option to buy. The experience and qualities of the 2018 world champion were welcome in the Marseille city, especially with the Champions League to play. But his time in Provence was not a real success.

Pretty good preparation

After 37 appearances in the Marseille jersey (1 goal, 3 assists), he was not retained by OM, who did not exercise his purchase option. He was sent back to Milan, after not participating in the 2026 World Cup with France. Another hard blow for the native of Maubeuge. But he still received good news this summer with the birth of his first child. Back at square one at Inter, the versatile French defender knew that his club was not counting on him. This is what was announced in the press, especially since the Italian team recruited John Stones in defense. Despite this, Pavard got involved during the preparation to try to convince.

La Gazzetta dello Sport was also thrilled by the face displayed by the Habs. “A new Pavard seems to have emerged. A more stubborn attitude, as if he harbored a renewed desire to reconquer Inter.wrote the publication on pink paper about him. Some, including him, perhaps dreamed of a new start in the Milan jersey. Especially since he followed up on Saturday with a goal scored during the friendly match against Manchester City on Saturday. His performance was praised by the transalpine media. The Frenchman was even voted man of the match. But reality came back to the former Bayern Munich player’s face.

Pavard must leave

This Monday, Sports Mediaset reveals that Inter and Tottenham have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Cristian Romero for an amount of €40 million (bonus included). It was thought that this avenue had been left aside after the recruitment of John Stones. This is not the case. The Italian champions want both players this summer. But to finalize the Romero file, the Interists must find a total agreement with the Argentine defender and make room. Chivu is counting in particular on Akanji, Bastoni, Bisseck and Stones. Pavard is asked to leave. His departure is necessary to complete the Cuti Romero deal.

Inter are therefore looking to make him leave at all costs. The Serie A club cannot keep him because he is equipped in defense and he receives a salary of €5 million net per season. Which is too high for a simple replacement. Benjamin Pavard is therefore pushed towards the exit. But it’s not really happening at the moment. Last June, Besiktas tested the waters for the player under contract until 2028. Since then, not much. The Milan-based club hopes that it will quickly find a new base in order to finalize the Romero file. It remains to be seen which club will bet on the Frenchman this summer.
