The transfer of Chrislain Matsima to Crystal Palace has taken a turn for the worse. According to Sky GermanyFC Augsburg has decided to end negotiations with the English club. The French defender had however been identified as the successor to the departing Maxence Lacroix, and until two days ago, all parties thought they were close to a final agreement.
Ultimately, discussions stalled over the final financial details. The two clubs failed to agree on bonuses and payment structure, with Crystal Palace refusing to make any compromise. Matsima and his entourage were informed of the decision on Wednesday and the player will now join the Augsburg training camp. Internally, the German club no longer expects a new offensive from Crystal Palace in this matter.
