The 2026 World Cup turned the football world around for more than a month before closing its doors on July 19. In France, M6 was responsible for the unencrypted broadcast, while beIN Sports subscribers were entitled to all the matches. In any case, the tone used by the sixth channel during the competition did not win over all the viewers.
Many were, for example, irritated by Xavier Domergue’s comments, disappointed by the post-match magazine presented by OphĂ©lie Meunier, and did not hesitate to share it on social networks in particular. If the audiences were there, however, M6 therefore suffered several criticisms.
Among those who showed their disappointment, a former member of the house expressed it again this Monday. On his YouTube channel, Pierre Ménès answered a question from one of his followers. The latter referred to the heavy criticism sent to the figure of FIFA and its president Gianni Infantino, by Radio Télévision Suisse.

It’s this deluge of superlatives, of ‘how good we are’, ‘how great this World Cup is’… There is no perspective, no critical spirit. And quite honestly, I think it’s something that pisses people off. »
For Pierre Ménès, the public was obviously not fooled.
“People see the matches. A guy who is able to watch Colombia-Switzerland at 11 p.m., it’s not because he can’t sleep, it’s because he loves football. So you can’t sell him this match as a great match when it’s crap in general. »
Pierre Ménès finally concluded. “How do you want to ask journalists, who took out the polishing brush for five weeks, to have a minimum of critical thinking at the end. Especially since (FIFA) is going to reallocate the World Cup in four years and M6 obviously, even if they lost some courage on arrival, wants to get back on track. So there will be the problem of the relationship with FIFA. »
