Mamedi Doucouré (19 years old) is starting to turn heads on the transfer market. Considered one of the best young defenders in Italy, the player signed his very first professional contract with Genoa in July 2025 – a three-year lease with a one-year option – despite the interest of several big players in Serie A. After making his first team debut during the last Serie A campaign under the orders of Daniele De Rossi, the young French central defender is now attracting growing interest in France, where Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs are in the running. The competition looks set to be even keener as training from the Middle East is also starting to appear.
Currently present with the Grifoni pro group for the pre-season training course, the Frenchman joins the worthy line of high-potential defenders who have passed through Genoa in recent years (Cristián Romero, Radu Drăgușin, Koni De Winter and Honest Ahanor), while Genoa still counts the highly coveted Alessandro Marcandalli in its ranks. It remains to be seen whether the Genoese leaders will be able to resist the attacks for their nugget.
