After a crazy 2025-2026 season marked by his arrival in the Algerian team in order to compete, each time as number 1, in the 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco then the 2026 World Cup in North America, Luca Zidane should leave for a third season in Granada, in Liga 2. The goalkeeper son of “Zizou” will begin his pre-season preparation almost a month after the defeat of the Greens at the World Cup against Switzerland (0-2, goals from Breel Embolo and Dan Ndoye), on July 2 in Vancouver.
Luca Zidane, 28, performed well last season in a team that never managed to escape mid-table, finishing only 14th in the table. It is a reference of this segunda division
since his departure from the Real Madrid training center in 2020, although he could however be put in competition by a goalkeeper recruited during the off-season.
Raul Lizoain, who arrived free, indeed shone during the Grenadins’ first preparation match and the Andalusian media believe that this very experienced goalkeeper (35 years old), who played in La Liga with Las Palmas from 2015 to 2018, could be considered by coach Pacheta as a number 1 bis. Last season, Ander Astralaga, on loan from Barça and goalkeeper for the Spanish Espoirs, had playing time during Luca Zidane’s absences.
Luca Zidane joined by Kader Bamba
Former FC Nantes winger Kader Bamba is one of Granada CF’s recruits. He was free after his time at Clermont Foot. Left back Baïla Diallo, also passed through Clermont and arrived in Granada in 2025, is the third native of France in the squad.
The Nazaries officially begin their season on August 15 with a trip to Oviedo, in the northwest of the country, before hosting Mallorca, relegated from the elite. The Balearic club no longer counts on the top scorer in its history, Vedat Muriqi, sold to Fenerbahçe for 15 million euros.
