A true globetrotter of European football, Baptiste Santamaria is preparing to discover a fourth European championship. After having set foot on the pitches of Ligue 1, Bundesliga and Liga, the 31-year-old midfielder, notably in France with SCO Angers and Stade Rennais, will be exported to the Greek first division to relaunch his career under the colors of PAOK Salonika. Author of 22 appearances last season with Valence CF (1 goal and 2 assists), the native of Saint-Doulchard ended up paying the price for the competition after the winter arrival of Argentinian international midfielder Guido Rodriguez.
At 31, Santamaria was above all looking for regular playing time coupled with an ambitious sporting project. An equation perfectly resolved by PAOK, recent 3rd in the Super League and above all qualified for the next edition of the Europa League. The player landed this Sunday evening in Salonika, as revealed by the Greek press. Left free by the Valencian club, Santamaria will undergo the traditional medical examination this Monday before signing a one-season contract with the Hellenic team.
