There is no longer much doubt, in a few days, Mason Greenwood will no longer be an Olympique de Marseille player. With this in mind, we recently told you that the English player was close to joining Fenerbahçe and that the transfer should be concluded around an amount between 40 and 50 million euros with bonus, while Olympique de Marseille will also retain a percentage on a future resale of the player.
This Thursday, The Team affirms, for its part, that Atlético de Madrid, however, has returned to the charge in recent hours to try to interfere in the race for the signature of the former Manchester United player. The Colchoneros, who have been following the matter for several weeks, would, in fact, refuse to give up despite the acceleration of negotiations between OM and Fenerbahçe and would have made an offer of 45 million euros and five bonuses. This last minute offensive does not, however, call into question the trend that has emerged in recent days.
Atlético tries to overtake Fener
As we revealed to you, Mason Greenwood remains very close to joining Fenerbahçe today. Discussions between the different parties have progressed considerably and an agreement between the Turkish club and OM is imminent. Negotiations are now focused on the final details before possible formalization. Atlético’s interest nevertheless proves that the English international’s profile continues to attract the biggest European clubs.
Diego Simeone has long appreciated the qualities of the former Manchester United player, capable of playing across the entire attacking front and making the difference in big matches. It remains to be seen whether this Madrid offensive will be enough to change Greenwood’s mind or convince Marseille to review its plans. At present, however, the trend remains favorable to Fenerbahçe, which maintains a significant lead in this file despite the remarkable return of Atlético de Madrid.
