A priori, Paris Saint-Germain will not recruit anyone in midfield with the announced extensions of Senny Mayulu and Fabian Ruiz. On the other hand, the capital club is still looking to strengthen itself in attack since the departure of Gonçalo Ramos to AC Milan and the announced departure of Kang-in Lee to Atlético de Madrid. For several weeks, PSG seems to have set its sights on Yan Diomandé. Aged 19, the RB Leipzig winger is coming off an interesting season in Germany (13 goals, 10 assists in 36 matches).
Courted by Liverpool, the Ivorian international (14 caps, 3 goals) decided to snub the Reds to join the reigning double champions Euripe, even though he had assured the opposite while he was playing in the World Cup. “You inform me. I don’t have internet, I don’t have Instagram, I don’t have TikTok. It’s my agent who is talking with the club, I have no information. I don’t want to talk about that, even with my agent because it’s a chance to play in a World Cup, it’s every four years, so you have to take advantage of it. I want to make history with my country, and give the best of myself.”
The RBL doesn’t give up
Since then, the negotiations have dragged on, the fault of Leipzig’s intransigence. As a reminder, the Germans rejected offers of more than €100 million from Liverpool and their sporting director, Marcel Schäfer, had cooled everyone. “Our intention is clear: Yan Diomandé will play for RB Leipzig next year. And we will not compromise on that! We know its value. Certainly, if Yan continues on this path, the time will come to allow him to take a new step, but not this year. In principle, we have a four-year contract and we keep control. These current developments are therefore above all a recognition of its performances. No more, no less. And if we don’t find a solution, well too bad, but he has four years left on his contract. So I repeat: Yan Diomandé will remain a Leipzig player. »
Today, Bild tells us that Leipzig intends to keep Diomandé for this 2026/2027 season. On the other hand, the idea of a sale is being considered, but under two conditions. The RBL is still demanding more than €100 million for the former Leganés resident. And if a club submits a satisfactory proposal, it will have to wait a year before being able to benefit from the Ivorian’s services. Indeed, like what it did in 2017 with Naby Keita and Liverpool, Leipzig wants to recover a large check and the one-year loan of its player. It now remains to be seen whether or not PSG will comply with the RBL’s demands.
