Álex Baena spoke about the future of his teammate Julián Álvarez during a radio interview COPE. The Atlético Madrid attacking midfielder admitted that the Argentine striker could be frustrated after a season that fell short of expectations. “Maybe he’s not happy because it’s not his best season”he confided, while specifying that he wanted, for his part, to continue the adventure with the Colchoneros despite his own disappointment.
Asked about a possible transfer of Julián Álvarez to a direct rival after the Argentine striker’s shock exit, Baena was categorical. “I would never sell my players to direct competitors”he said, believing that a departure for Real Madrid should never be considered, while understanding his dream of going to FC Barcelona: I’ll handcuff him to make him stay, but if he wants to pursue his dream, well, what can we do?he added.
