After the 2026 World Cup, the update of the Fifa ranking confirms that Tunisia is indeed the great disappointment of the competition.

We do not know if Tunisia is officially or unofficially the biggest disappointment of the 2026 World Cup. But this is what emerges from the evolution of the Fifa ranking over the last few days.

With their defeats against Sweden (5-1), Japan (4-0) and the Netherlands (3-1), the Carthage Eagles missed their point and are one of the countries which finished the group stage with zero points, with Haiti, Iraq, Jordan, Uzbekistan and Panama. In fact, only Iraq did worse, with a goal difference of -11 against -10 for the team led by Hervé Renard.

Tunisia loses big

On the other hand, in the rankings, it is Tunisia which recorded the most brutal fall compared to the start of this World Cup, going from 45th to 57th place, or 12 ranks less. Panama, Uzbekistan and Iraq fell 10 places. We will add the Czech Republic (-8 places) and South Korea (-7 places) to the list of flops.
