Tottenham are in a strong position in the Mateus Fernandes case and now seem poised to beat Manchester United and PSG to secure his services. The 21-year-old Portuguese midfielder, who had a solid season with West Ham despite the club’s relegation, is estimated to be worth around £80 million, or around €92 million. The Hammers are open to a sale, which fuels desire for a player considered to be one of the priorities of several Premier League clubs, but also of the capital club, as we revealed to you last week.

According to The TimesSpurs have taken a head start and intend to accelerate to complete the operation, while Manchester United would consider withdrawing if the financial demands become too high. The club led by Roberto De Zerbi is continuing its summer reconstruction after remaining in the Premier League, with several reinforcements already registered (Andrew Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul Van Hecke) and a clear desire to strike hard on the transfer market.
