Freshly promoted to the Premier League, Ipswich Town is already working to find a successor to Kieran McKenna, who left after having largely contributed to the club’s rise. According to the BBCthe management of the Tractor Boys would have made Gary O’Neil, current coach of Strasbourg, their priority to take control of the team next season. Arriving in Alsace in January, the 43-year-old technician is under contract until 2028 (with an optional year) and is having a solid first part of adventure with the RCSA.
Under his leadership, Strasbourg reached the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League and the Coupe de France, while posting the 5th best record in Ligue 1 in the return phase with 29 points. A progression which is now attracting attention in England, where Ipswich is seriously studying its profile to relaunch its project in the Premier League. Clearly, Ligue 1 coaches are attracting the English championship, while Pierre Sage is very close to signing up with Crystal Palace.
