The identity of Didier Deschamps’ successor is no longer in doubt. Even if the president of the French Football Federation, Philippe Diallo, is careful not to make the news official before the World Cup, one name is the big favorite: Zinédine Zidane. “I know the name of the future coach. You need a profile that ticks a lot of boxes and that can also attract support from the French, since this French football team is the team of the French.”confided the boss of the 3F to Figaro in March.

For his part, Didier Deschamps rarely escapes questions about his succession during his appearances at press conferences. But the French coach generally doesn’t really pay attention to it: “I have a habit of not commenting. I will not respond through you. I take care of what is important to me. I have one goal, you know that. What happens next doesn’t concern me.”he confided in March after the exit of his president.

Deschamps believes he has no advice to give to his successor

This Sunday, DD gave an interview to Parisian and he was once again invited to discuss the future of the Blues. “What advice could I give to my successor? When I am asked, I am available. Before becoming Belgium coach, Rudi Garcia, who had until now only coached at club level, asked me. I have no advice to giveconfides Deschamps. And it has nothing to do with who will probably take my job (laughs). Everyone does according to what they think, who they are and the situation that arises. I will remain a supporter of the France team.»

On the question of whether the media and popular impatience surrounding Zidane’s arrival could affect or irritate him, DD also responded: “Regarding the time we spent together, there will always be respect. I’m talking about it because you asked me the question. But does it serve the present moment, the French team and the preparation for the World Cup? I don’t think so. Nothing irritates me and I have to adapt to the times we live in, too.” Today, Deschamps intends to take care of his exit as best he can. The Blues coach has nothing else in mind than to win a third star at the head of the France team. From there, the pressure will be on his successor’s shoulders, and no longer his own.
