The big leap to England kept its promises on an individual level for Soungoutou Magassa. Recruited last summer from AS Monaco for a check for 17 million euros, the native of Stains was able to adapt to the intensity of British football. For his very first experience across the Channel, the defensive midfielder made 26 matches in all competitions, even scoring a goal and an assist. His talent notably splashed England during a major and memorable performance against the great Manchester United. During this meeting, the former Monegasque reigned supreme, scoring a goal, winning no less than 9 duels and quite logically winning the man of the match trophy. If he was absolutely not unworthy, his efforts were however not enough to save the Hammers’ ship from sinking and a cruel relegation to the Championship.

This descent into the second division completely reshuffles the cards for the player’s future. The relegation of West Ham imposes heavy financial constraints on the London management, which finds itself obliged to sell several items with high market value to replenish its coffers. A delicate context that several European teams intend to take advantage of to negotiate the transfer of Magassa. If the operation promises to be complex due to the duration of his contract, which binds him to the London club until 2029 (+ 2 years optional), a departure from the English capital seems more relevant than ever this summer. Its market value, greater than €15 million, makes it a very attractive target for clubs wishing to strengthen their midfield.

Galatasararay, Frankfurt and Juventus are still on the lookout

There is also no shortage of suitors. As early as this winter, teams of the caliber of Galatasaray, Eintracht Frankfurt and Juventus Turin had already come forward for information. These three teams have continued to closely monitor the Hammer’s performance and are now ready to go on the offensive. The Istanbul club is desperately looking for suitable reinforcement for this position and greatly appreciates the player’s athletic and technical profile. In Italy, the prestigious Juventus is absolutely not indifferent to its great defensive qualities. In Germany, the Frankfurt threat is becoming pressing. Eintracht, which had already looked into his case in the past, is very seriously considering taking action.

Interest from the German club has even intensified considerably since the arrival of Adi Hütter on the bench was made official. The Austrian technician knows the Franco-Malian perfectly, since it was he who gave him his very first chance among professionals at AS Monaco. Add to this fierce battle the interest of a few French and English clubs that have recently come to the news, and you have all the ingredients for a thrilling soap opera. Soungoutou Magassa definitely has everything to be a great host in this summer transfer window.
