Neymar should be able to begin collective training with the Brazilian selection shortly. At least that’s what Carlo Ancelotti announced this Friday.
“Neymar is doing an excellent individual job, he will have an MRI and, if all goes well, he will train with the group next week”explained the Seleçao coach, during a press conference held in New Jersey.
Due to a right calf injury sustained at the end of May, the Santos player cannot participate in the preparation matches for the World Cup. On the other hand, the former Paris Saint-Germain star could make his appearance when Brazil enters the competition on June 14 against Morocco.
Neymar, the big return to the selection
Carlo Ancelotti had called on the native of Mogi das Cruzes somewhat to everyone’s surprise, probably giving in to popular pressure and that of the CBF. The latter has not worn the colors of the Seleçao since October 17, 2023, during a qualifying match for the World Cup against Uruguay. That day, he suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
During his career, Neymar was not spared from serious injuries. Fractured vertebrae during the 2014 World Cup, ruptured ankle ligament in February 2018, hamstrings, adductors… If he was sometimes unlucky, his somewhat reprehensible lifestyle was not always unrelated to his many physical problems.
