Despite the setback conceded against Ivory Coast (1-2) on Thursday, the Blues wanted to be confident as the World Cup approached.

The French team did not reassure about ten days before its entry into contention for the 2026 World Cup. Opposed to the Ivory Coast in Nantes, the Blues lost 2-1. Rayan Cherki may have opened the scoring shortly before the break, but Didier Deschamps’ men got through the second half, being caught shortly after returning from the locker room before conceding a second goal at the very end of the match.

The Blues did not seem particularly affected by this setback. “Of course the defeat is damaging given the match. But we are in the preparation phase, we haven’t been together long, there are still things to refine. We remain calm for the future, we will continue to work hard”confided AurĂ©lien Tchouameni to the microphone of TF1.

“There are no conclusions to draw from this match. Even if we had had an excellent match, it wouldn’t have been worth much going forward, continued the Madrid midfielder. The most important thing is to continue working together, to see the adjustments to the video. We will be ready. »

“Crush everyone”

Same story in the mouth of Rayan Cherki. “It’s a little alarm bell that helps us stay focused. We will not go to the World Cup as favorites, but to crush everyone,” said the former Lyonnais, who particularly enjoyed this first period played alongside Michael Olise.

“Playing with Michael is huge because we understand each other without even speaking, whispered the Manchester City playmaker on TF1. He knows that I can go right, left and he’s the same. When I see him enter the center, I don’t necessarily want to step on his toes because he can bring a player with him and there can be space on the right, and vice versa. It’s an understanding of the game that we have. When we’re on the pitch, it’s wonderful to play together. »
