French team, a luxury hotel that is controversial

After two preparation matches before the 2026 World Cup against Ivory Coast and Northern Ireland, the France team is flying next week to the United States and its luxury hotel in Boston. The accommodation budget has exploded!

“French Football Federation: a third star or bankruptcy”title the site blast in an article published a few days before the 2026 World Cup and notably signed by independent journalist Romain Molina. Despite certain XXL income such as the Nike contract worth 100 million euros per year (!), the FFF is in a worrying economic situation. The deficit in 2025 was 8.7 million euros and regional leagues are on the verge of bankruptcy. A journey for the French team to the semi-finals of the North American World Cup seems essential to replenish the coffers!

However, the price of accommodation for the Blues in the United States is the talk of the town. The president of the FFF Philippe Diallo has ensured that Didier Deschamps’ group is in the best possible position, but the choice of the Four Seasons in Boston, in the city center, is probably not the most judicious. All hotel rooms have been reserved for the World Cup period and some of the 239 rooms will be unoccupied. Only a few customers throughout the year will accompany the French internationals during this period.

The investigation of blast reveals an XXL expense for the French team hotel. This is incomprehensible to some. “If the federation has reserved 200 rooms for at least 30 days, that is at least 6,000 nights at 2,000 euros, or 12 million euros just for accommodation”panics a senior official of the federation. Fifa finances part of the accommodation costs but “for a maximum of 50 people from each participating member association, at a fixed rate to be established later” depending on the team’s progress at the World Cup.

The Blues like no one else

Didier Deschamps could conclude his great adventure at the head of the Blues (since 2012) with this controversy over the price of the hotel, especially in the event of disillusionment during this 2026 World Cup. “As Didier (Deschamps) is going to leave his position as coach after the World Cup, if this goes badly they will blame him for the choice of the hotel, even though he was not aware of the price”predicts an influential member of the FFF.

“We have in fact privatized the hotel. We want to do everything we can to ensure that the French team is in the best conditions, but the price is significantly lower than that which you mention”retorts President Philippe Diallo to blast. No major selection has opted for a palace in the city, especially since Kylian Mbappé and his teammates will train in the suburbs of the capital of Massachusetts, a 30-minute drive. A comfortable hotel complex in the countryside would have done the trick.
