Paris Saint-Germain has still not come down from its clouds. A few days after winning its second consecutive Champions League at the end of a thrilling final against Arsenal, the capital club continues to savor an exploit which took it into another dimension. From the celebrations in Budapest to the Parisian parade in front of tens of thousands of supporters and the party at the Elysée and the Parc des Princes, Luis Enrique’s men took advantage of this historic moment before gradually turning their eyes towards the next challenges. Because the calendar leaves no respite for the European champions. A large part of the squad has quickly joined their national team for the World Cup while the managers are already working behind the scenes to prepare for next season. A season which could allow PSG to aim for a third consecutive star. A feat never before achieved in its history.

Among the many files opened this summer, that of the guards is particularly attracting attention. The departure of Gianluigi Donnarumma last year reshuffled the cards and Matvey Safonov has just finished a historic season as the starter. Enough to permanently maintain its number one status? Nothing is less certain while several discussions are underway in the offices of the PSG Campus. The future of Lucas Chevalier also remains unclear after a complicated season which could lead to a loan or even a permanent transfer. Added to this is the progress of Renato Marin. Arriving from Italy with the label of immense hope, the young goalkeeper continues his development under the eyes of the Parisian staff. So many questions that push PSG to continue to invest in this strategic position despite the density already present in the workforce.

A new Italian goalkeeper will arrive

And clearly, Parisian leaders are preparing to reproduce an operation that had already succeeded. According to information from The TeamAlessandro Longoni is now very close to joining PSG. An Italian U19 international goalkeeper aged just 18, the player currently belongs to AC Milan and is expected to sign his first professional contract in the French capital. The project imagined by PSG strongly resembles that built around Renato Marin. Longoni would initially play with the Espoirs group while regularly participating in Luis Enrique’s training sessions. An ideal environment to continue your progress within a club which has established itself as one of the European references in terms of developing young talents, at a time when PSG also announced this Thursday the signing of an intern contract for Wassim Slama and Toumani Diagouraga, both from the U19 generation. Parisian recruiters have been following the evolution of the Italian goalkeeper for several months and have been seduced by his potential as well as his room for improvement.

The profile of the young Italian also fits perfectly with the requirements of the Parisian staff. Trained at AC Milan, Longoni has distinguished himself in recent years at several important events in the youth categories. He notably made an impression during the U16 championship final won against Atalanta in 2024 then during the Italian Primavera Cup final against Cagliari in 2025. But beyond his qualities on his line, it was above all his ease with the ball which convinced Luis Enrique. Since his arrival in Paris, the Spanish coach has attached great importance to recovery and the ability of his goalkeepers to participate in the game. An area in which Longoni already has solid references despite his young age. If the operation comes to fruition, PSG will therefore add a new Italian nugget to its project. A strategy now well established in the capital and which could, in the long term, offer even greater competition in a hierarchy of goalkeepers which promises to liven up the entire Parisian summer.
