After the meeting between the Netherlands and Algeria last night (0-1), Virgil van Dijk returned to the way in which the dismissal of Arne Slot was made public in Liverpool. The Dutch defender explained that he discovered the news at the same time as the media, when he had just traveled with his team. “I got off the plane on Saturday afternoon, and there I saw the leaked news. I wasn’t even aware of it myself. Apparently the decision was made in the morning” he said, being shocked.
In the process, Van Dijk ranted against the media, believing that some people feel obliged to publish information relatively quickly on social networks and in the press. “We now live in a world where everyone (journalists) wants to be the first person to break the news. These are the people who benefit from it. Yeah… that’s reality” he added. A speech which demonstrates a certain frustration on the part of the Reds defender.
