RC Lens must now prepare for the aftermath of Pierre Sage, who has decided to leave the northern club.

It’s confirmed: Pierre Sage will no longer be the coach of RC Lens next season. Despite the second place won by the Sang et Or in Ligue 1, synonymous with qualification for the Champions League, and the first Coupe de France won by the northern club, the French technician (47 years old) decided to set sail.

Pierre Sage would have announced his decision to his leaders. A choice which may seem surprising given that he had confirmed in the show Téléfootten days ago, that it would still be on the artesian bench in 2026-2027. Who will replace the former Lyon coach, insistently announced at Crystal Palace but also courted in the Middle East?

A name is already circulating: Patrick Videira. According to RMC Sport, the one who has just brought Le Mans back up among the elite, by finishing second in Ligue 2 behind Troyes and ahead of Saint-Etienne, would be on the RCL’s shelves. Under contract until 2027 in Sarthe, he would also be of interest to another Ligue 1 team and Portuguese teams.
