The 2026 summer transfer window has not yet officially opened its doors, but clubs and agents are already busy in all directions, with several big transfers already settled, such as that of Anthony Gordon to FC Barcelona, and other files which excite the crowds, like that leading to Julian Alvarez. And if there is one agent who will still have fun this summer, it’s Jorge Mendes. The Portuguese is not a newcomer, of course, since he is perhaps even the biggest agent of the last 20 years. But during this summer transfer window, it will be even busier than usual.
First, in Ligue 1. Indeed, he regained a lot of influence on the AS Monaco side, where he was able to place his coach, Filipe Luis, who will experience his first European adventure after having been successful in Brazil, winning the championship and the Libertadores with Flamengo. First file already completed on the Rock: the definitive transfer of his client Ansu Fati, until now on loan, for 11 million euros. He could even place another Gestifute player very soon, since Marc Casado (FC Barcelona) could join his compatriot at the Stade Louis II. There is no doubt that, throughout the summer, the Portuguese will try to place his pawns in Monaco, in particular to replace players who will leave like Lamine Camara, coveted in England as revealed by us, Folarin Balogun or Maghnes Akliouche.
Entrances to Barça… and Real Madrid
At FC Barcelona, where he is close to Deco and president Joan Laporta, Mendes should also conclude some operations. In the direction of arrivals first, with João Cancelo that the Spanish champion wants to keep, as well as Bernardo Silva, who, if not at Barça, will sign for another big European club this summer. As for departures, in addition to Fati and Casado mentioned above, Alejandro Baldé could leave, and the Catalan press recently mentioned a sale price of 50 million euros, as well as interest in the Premier League for the Spanish full-back.
If there is a club where Mendes will come back in force, after a few cold years with Florentino Pérez, it is Real Madrid. Depending on the result of Sunday’s presidential elections, he could replace one of his historic clients in a major position: José Mourinho. The Special One will be the coach of the Spanish capital club in the event of Florentino Pérez’s victory, and there is no doubt that Mendes will take advantage of this to place certain players. The newspaper A.S. also recently confirmed that the Portuguese will offer several of his players to the Madrid management, and in recent days, the name of Ruben Dias (Manchester City) has for example been mentioned several times in the Spanish media, as well as Vitinha and João Neves, even if we are still very far from considering a transfer to Madrid for the two Parisians.
Files at PSG also
Bradley Barcola, on the other hand, has chances of leaving the capital, and there is no doubt that if he does leave Paris, it will be an XXL transfer. The same goes for Gonçalo Ramos, who would not really be in the plans of the European champions for the coming season and who has been announced in clubs like Atlético de Madrid. Still in Paris, but in the direction of arrivals this time, the businessman could well place West Ham sensation Mateus Fernandes, while Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa has also been mentioned. Elsewhere, Francisco Trincão (Sporting) should also bring in good commissions for Gestifute in the event of a transfer to England, just like the Strasbourg player Diego Moreira, who could also increase in value during the World Cup with Belgium.
Then, Mendes will not only take care of the transfers of members of the Gestifute team. He’s used to acting as a go-between, helping other agents transfer players who aren’t in his catalog. He should thus take care of the transfer of Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea), a player who will leave for a sum around and surely exceeding 100 million euros, while Real Madrid would be interested. Suffice to say that a priori, our friend Jorge Mendes will not need the back-to-school allowance in September…
