To his advantage against the Gunners, Marquinhos also made an impression by seeking to console Gabriel after his missed shot on goal on Saturday.

The image made the front pages of British dailies on Sunday, the day after Arsenal’s defeat against PSG in the Champions League final (1-1, 4 tab to 3). Gabriel, who had just precipitated his team’s loss by aiming at the clouds with his shot on goal, was comforted by Marquinhos while his teammates celebrated their victory.

The gesture also marked the London players, who were full of praise for the Parisian captain after the match. “He’s a gentleman,” said Martin Ă–degaard, Arsenal captain. He is probably one of the most experienced players currently active. He’s already been through both sides of a final like this and he knows what we’re going through…”

“He behaved like a lord,” added Piero Hincapie, who was himself comforted by his compatriot Pacho a few moments later. Thinking about others before thinking about yourself is the sign of very grown-ups. The man is the image of the player he is on the pitch. PSG can be proud of their captain. »

Marquinhos could, however, savor this new coronation, he who is undoubtedly the best symbol of these “years of struggle and combat” experienced by PSG. “The first one was very, very moving. The second is still very, very beautiful, and even more difficult than the first. But the first remains special, because we suffered for years,” he said.

He also called on supporters to exercise restraint in order to continue celebrating the titles won with PSG. Under contract until 2028, the Parisian captain does not intend to abandon ship even if his leaders are looking for his successor as central hinge.
