Having just won his second consecutive Champions League with PSG, Luis Enrique could see himself winning… four more.

It is well known that appetite comes with eating. And this is obviously the case for Luis Enrique. Saturday evening, the Spanish coach of Paris Saint-Germain achieved an improbable “back to back” with his team. A second consecutive coronation in the Champions League and now a gargantuan European ambition.

This Sunday, while he was waiting alongside the bus that transported the Parisian delegation from Le Bourget airport to the Military School for the Champ-de-Mars parade, Luis Enrique noticed that several stars were printed on the body of the vehicle. He then spoke to Matvey Safonov in French, the two men having studied it since their arrival in Paris.

“You have to get one, two, three, four, five, six…” Then, turning with a big smile towards a member of the staff, he added: “That’s planning. » A joke which necessarily has its share of truth and ambition for a coach never satisfied by victories and work around a group which has still applied its methods successfully.

Luis Enrique can aim for another record

Already winner of the 2015 Champions League with FC Barcelona, the Spanish technician and former coach of La Roja therefore has three to his personal record. But what he is now looking for is to equal the feat that only Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid has managed to achieve in history: winning three consecutive C1s (2016 to 2018).

However, Luis Enrique entered on Saturday evening into a restricted circle which includes Zinedine Zidane, Carlo Ancelotti and Bob Paisley: the coaches who have won the Champions League three times in their career.
