The dismissal of Ruben Amorim and his staff weighed heavily on Manchester United’s finances. According to accounts published on Wednesday by the Premier League club, this decision cost 16.7 million pounds (around 19.3 million euros). The Portuguese coach, who arrived with a contract still valid for 18 months, was dismissed after too fair results and friction, also leading to the departure of his assistants.

And this is not the only expensive departure, because that of Erik ten Hag, in post between April 2022 and October 2024, had already represented an expense of 14.5 million pounds (around 16.9 million euros) for the Mancunian club. To date, Michael Carrick has allowed the Red Devils a radical change of face, with the end of the season ending in 3rd place in the championship, synonymous with qualification for the next Champions League and there is no doubt that he will bring back a second wind.
