At the end of a crazy last day in Serie A, Como finished in 4th place in the standings ahead of AC Milan, booking their ticket for the next edition of the Champions League. A source of pride for Maxence Caqueret who said yes to the Como project in the 2025 winter transfer window. A year and a half later, the French midfielder does not regret his choice. He will return to a competition he loves in a few months. “It was something exceptional. Nobody expects a club like Como in the Champions League, especially after two seasons in Serie A. It was a magnificent moment. The group had an incredible season and I really think it’s deserved. We deserved this place. It was an incredible moment, the footballer born in 2000 told us.”

Then he added: “I can’t wait to play the Champions League again. I had the chance to play with OL and they were wonderful moments. It is the Holy Grail of European football. So it’s just a pleasure for a player to play in this competition and I hope we will have the opportunity to do great things.” Caqueret takes full advantage, before setting off again for a new exercise which is sure to be exciting. “As for our ambitions for next season, we are not going to lie to ourselves, we are still in the euphoria and joy of this qualification. It’s hard to plan ahead at the moment because the holidays and rest are just beginning. But when the time comes, we will set our goals. I think the goal will simply be to go as high as possible and win as many matches as possible because we play football to win and be the best possible.” A speech that must please Cesc Fabregas, who did everything to get the former Lyon player a little over a year ago.
