End of adventure for the Danish doorman! Kasper Schmeichel has just announced the end of his football career at the age of 39, following a painful shoulder injury. During an interview given to TV 2 Sportsthe former Leicester bulwark, winner of the Premier League in 2016, took the time to explain the news. “When my contract with Celtic ends in June, I will end my professional career. I consulted different surgeons and specialists regarding my shoulder, and they explained to me that I should not expect to play at the highest level again. I’ve thought about it a lot, but I think it’s the right time.”.
As a reminder, Schmeichel played for OGC Nice, but also for Anderlecht and Celtic recently. Close to forty, the doorman can be proud of his career which will still last 20 years. Scottish champion this season, without being able to help his teammates during the spring period, the Danish international ends his journey on a good note.
