Chelsea concluded their Premier League season with a real nightmare on the Sunderland pitch (1-2). Already left behind, the Blues collapsed to 10th place in the ranking and said goodbye to Europe, just one year after winning the Conference League. The residents of Stamford Bridge sealed their own destiny after the opening score of Trai Hume (25th), weighed down by an own goal from Malo Gusto (48th) then by the expulsion of Wesley Fofana (62nd), making the reduction in the score of Cole Palmer (56th) completely anecdotal.

Conversely, this historic outcome brings immense happiness to Sunderland. The newly promoted Championship team achieved the feat of overtaking Chelsea, Brentford and Brighton on this final day to secure an unexpected qualification for the Europa League. Thanks to this perfect heist, the Black Cats are preparing to compete in a European competition for the very first time in their history, plunging the Stadium of Light into ecstasy. Brighton will go to the Conference League.
