For the first time since 2006, the polls are out at Real Madrid. Opposed to Florentino Pérez, Enrique Riquelme officially announced his candidacy before the closing of registrations this Saturday afternoon, thus relaunching an electoral campaign within the Madrid club, as indicated Marca. For almost twenty years, Florentino Pérez had always been re-elected without an opponent, since no candidate had presented himself in the elections of 2009, 2013, 2017, 2021 and 2025.
To formalize his candidacy, Enrique Riquelme had to gather the financial guarantees required by the club’s statutes, i.e. 193.7 million euros, representing 15% of Real Madrid’s budget. After several failures, the businessman finally concluded his file with Andbank Spain. Furthermore, when he left the capital’s training center, Riquelme assured that he wanted to propose a serious project, affirming that his candidacy was not against anyone, but for Real Madrid. Suspense!
