The goalkeeper project promises to be complex for Olympique de Marseille. While management is already actively considering the succession to Geronimo Rulli for next season, an attractive profile was recently mentioned in the corridors of the Commanderie according to our information: that of Stole Dimitrievski. At 32 years old, the last bastion of the North Macedonia selection (88 selections under his belt) embodies experience par excellence. This big fan of Gianluigi Buffon is a true veteran of Iberian football, playing a total of 260 league matches in Spain, including 150 La Liga matches.

His resilience and his dejection have also splashed the current exercise. Restricted to a substitute role during the first part of the season at FC Valencia, Dimitrievski knew how to turn his back before seizing his chance. Launched into the deep end against Elche following Julen Aguirrezabala’s injury, the Macedonian put in a string of good performances (19 matches played this season) and never left the club’s goals again. A rise in power that is not so surprising since his name had even been circulating around FC Barcelona a few months ago.

Valencia want to lock Stole Dimitrievski

Such a CV logically attracted the attention of OM, aware that the player’s current contract expires in June 2026. However, the Marseille club risks coming up against a relentless strategy from Valencia. According to an internal Che club source, the goalkeeper’s fate is set to be sealed imminently. While the last day of the championship takes place this evening, the final decision will be made this week internally.

And the Spanish management’s plan is already in place: the club wants to keep its goalkeeper and exercise a clause to automatically extend its lease until 2028. To activate this option, FC Valencia will have to pay a sum of 500,000 euros to the player. An expeditious maneuver which is likely to close this file and force OM to turn to other horizons.
