Egypt unveiled its list on the sidelines of the 2026 World Cup, with one major absentee and several new features.

For only the fourth time in history, Egypt will participate in a World Cup. A competition which does not really succeed for the Pharaons, with the best result being a round of 16 which dates back to the 1934 edition.

To reverse this trend, coach Hossam Hassan made some strong choices in his list of 27 players, revealed this Wednesday evening, who will fly to North America.

Obviously, captain Mohamed Salah (Liverpool, 33 years old) will be present, as will his sidekick on the attacking front Omar Marmoush (Manchester City, 27 years old) or the tireless Mahmoud Trezeguet (Al-Ahly, 31 years old) in midfield.

A discarded frame

A selection executive will nevertheless be missing. Indeed, Mostafa Mohamed (Nantes, 28 years old) was not selected for this 2026 World Cup. The striker with 61 caps is probably paying the price for a season with 4 goals in 24 matches with the Canaries, relegated to Ligue 2.

To replace him, Hossam Hassan has focused on youth and intends to rely on the great hopes Hamza Abdelkarim (FC Barcelona U19, 18 years old), Aqtay Abdallah (Enppi SC, 22 years old).
