In 2024, AS Roma put €18 million on the table to afford Manu Koné (25 years old). Two years later, the Giallorossi do not regret their investment at all. The French international midfielder has become an indisputable starter and his Italian performances have allowed him to consolidate his place within the France team. “He is one of the players who can be considered underrated because we don’t see them and they don’t get talked about. However, on the ground, we see it”declared Didier Deschamps about him in September 2025.

But two years later, the Louve club risks having to reluctantly part ways with the Frenchman, whose contract runs until 2029. The Corriere dello Sport announces that Roma are ready to sacrifice Manu Koné. The reason is simple: the transalpine team is still subject to UEFA sanctions as part of respecting financial fair play. Rome have a maximum loss of €60m allowed each season and must present a viable budget. Except that the fourth in the Serie A ranking would not quite respect its commitments.

Inter still there

The Giallorossi would in particular still have a significant payroll and the sale of elements such as Koné is therefore almost obligatory to avoid any backlash from the governing body of European football. A godsend for Inter. A declared courtier of the former resident of Borussia Mönchengladbach, the Italian champion club will undoubtedly return to the charge. The Nerazzurri had almost recruited the Frenchman in recent months in exchange for €35 million, but Roma backtracked.

The Lombards are announced as the big favorites in this file, even if the forced sale of Koné could attract other big fish. One thing is certain: AS Roma will perhaps prefer to wait until the end of the French team’s journey in the World Cup. Because in the event of good performances from the Blues and Koné, the Giallorossi will be able to demand a little more than the €40-50 million hoped for for the native of Colombes.
