What if Marcus Rashford became the thirteenth player in history to play for both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid during the same career, like Luis Figo, Samuel Eto’o, Ronaldo and Luis Enrique? At least those are the rumors coming from England at the start of the week.
More precisely from the journalist’s newsletter The IndependentMiguel Delaney, who reports a pronounced interest on the part of José Mourinho in the English winger. This one, loaned by Manchester United to Barça until the end of the season, still does not know the identity of his next club.
The negotiations are dragging on, with on the one hand the desire of the Red Devils to repatriate the child from the club and their intransigence in the negotiations, and on the other an economic and financial situation that is still not very stable for the Blaugrana. Rashford has a purchase option estimated at 30 million euros.
Towards an improbable turnaround for Rashford?
Still according to Miguel Delaney, “close sources claim Mourinho could surprise by signing Marcus Rashford”. The Portuguese maintains “good relationships” with the 28-year-old – they rubbed shoulders in Manchester between 2016 and 2018 -, and “would like to sign him: firstly, because he is a player he knows, and secondly, to cause a sensation and annoy Barcelona”.
For the moment, the rumor is in an embryonic stage. The Englishman has not yet made his decision regarding his future, while Real Madrid will have to prioritize their projects during the next transfer window.
