At the end of his last appearance in the FC Barcelona jersey, Robert Lewandowski experienced an evening full of emotion this Sunday evening against Real Bétis (3-1), surrounded by a tribute from the club and an ovation from the public. The 37-year-old Polish striker, in tears as he left the pitch, was accompanied by his family on the pitch, in a strong moment symbolizing the end of his four seasons in Catalonia. Microphone in hand, the striker wanted to send a final message to the Blaugrana supporters, with a strong emotional charge.
“Hello Barça fans. Thank you so much for coming today. For me it is both an exciting and difficult day, but from the moment I arrived I knew that it was a very big club and your affection has been incredible. I will never forget when you chanted my name. Thanks to the players, coaches and staff, it was an honor to work for this club. We’ve had some great moments over the past four years and I’m proud of everything we’ve accomplished together. I say goodbye to the stadium, but Barça will forever remain in my heart. Thanks to you supporters. Once a Barça supporter, always a Barça supporter”he said in front of his supporters. A statement which ends an adventure marked by a strong bond with the fans and a successful sporting career with 119 goals in 192 matches.
