At Real Madrid since 2022, Antonio Rüdiger has established himself as one of the leaders of the Merengue locker room over the seasons. The defender in 182 games with the Madrid club, however, has had a complicated few months between repeated injuries, declining performances and behavior that is more than borderline at times. At the end of his contract at the end of the season, Rüdiger is finally on the verge of extending for an additional season in Madrid, according to media information A.S..
The Spanish daily also reports that the 33-year-old initially wanted a two-year extension, but the policy applied by Florentino Pérez’s club regarding “elderly” players led to this one-season contract extension. Note that Rüdiger was particularly courted by Saudi Arabia.
