Former FC Metz player, Robert Pirès has confirmed that he would not refuse a position with the club which has just been relegated to Ligue 2.

Trained at the Stade de Reims, Robert Pirès, however, revealed himself to the general public under the colors of FC Metz. With the Grenats, the 1998 world champion almost was crowned champion of France that same year, ultimately failing in second place behind the Racing Club de Lens. Then leaving for OM, Robert Pirès would not be against a return to Metz.

Now aged 52, it is obviously not in the shoes of a football player that he would return if given the opportunity. But he would not be against a management mission. In any case, this is what he said as part of the program “La Vérité en Marche, 10 minutes to convince”. On the news channel offering interviews with various personalities, the former Arsenal player played fair.

Asked to answer a question about whether or not he wanted to join the FC Metz management team, Robert Pirès did not shirk. “You have to ask President Bernard Serin. If tomorrow he wants me to join the staff, in any position, I don’t see how I could tell him no. »

However, Robert Pirès made it clear that he was not running for anything. “I’m not in a position where I’m asking for something. He knows the connection I have with my club, his club, because he is still the president, he is the one who pays the players. But let’s say that if tomorrow he wants me to join, I will come. »

The winner of Euro 200 with the Blues also confirmed his love for FC Metz. “Whatever happens, even if Metz goes to Ligue 3, I will be there. There is no problem. »
