Grégory Lorenzi spoke frankly about the rumors sending him to Olympique de Marseille.

After ten years spent building the Stade Brestois project, Grégory Lorenzi chose to turn the page. The 42-year-old manager is already attracting interest in France, with a particularly hot track at Olympique de Marseille.

While several media announce his imminent arrival at Canebière, the former head of Brest recruitment prefers to remain cautious. OM, looking for new impetus to prepare for next season, sees in Lorenzi a profile capable of relaunching a lasting sporting dynamic.

Asked by West France regarding the Marseille rumors, the leader however avoided speaking out fully. “I will communicate once my situation is resolved for the rest of my career. It’s true that I’m lucky to have contact with a few clubs, but I can’t say more. You will soon have the outcome. Whatever structure I join, it will necessarily operate differently. This will be a way for me to focus more on the real role of a sports director. I’m ready for that”he explained.

However, Olympique de Marseille is not alone on the Grégory Lorenzi file. OGC Nice would also monitor his situation, even if the Riviera club remains focused on its end of season and its maintenance in Ligue 1. The future of the manager should be resolved quickly once the situation in Nice has been clarified, starting this evening.

“I didn’t want to spend the year too long”

Grégory Lorenzi also returned to the reasons for his departure from Brest, ensuring that he made this decision well before external requests. “I didn’t want to spend the year too long and hang on to my job. I said to myself that it was the time for the club to start with a new dynamic and for me to cut”he explained.

The Breton leader also recognized a certain mental wear and tear after several trying seasons keeping the club at the highest level. “Mentally, perhaps I didn’t have the strength to continue”he admitted, before defending the work accomplished within the Finistère club: “Today, I have the impression that people trivialize the fact that Brest is still in Ligue 1”.
