Knysna, episode II. Wednesday, Netflix unveiled the documentary dedicated to the South African fiasco of the French team during the 2010 World Cup. Entitled The Bus, the Blues on Strike, it aimed to return to one of the most significant moments in the history of the Blues. But the result was not to everyone’s taste. Raymond Domenech, who led the Tricolores at the time, was very unhappy. However, he had given full access to his diary to the directors and journalists who worked on this documentary. Yesterday, the coach, who destroyed his players during the competition calling some of them “idiots” or autistic, published a very long message to destroy the platform, which tackled Domenech yesterday in fact.

Players angry with Domenech

“16 years later, this was to be the documentary of the explanation of the reflection and the analysis posed. It was an extraordinarily violent indictment against me. This had to be a good documentary where each version would be presented fairly. It was a totally incriminating film with nauseating bias (…) I would never have validated such a version because it reflects neither what I said (choose the most juicy extracts, cut, edit, arrange and you will have a sensational film which has no other purpose than to “stir up shit” to increase ratings and discredit a man), nor who I am. I am bruised and betrayed: this sounds like a rape of my soul. A theft of my emotions for a moment”launched the ex-coach.

Yet The Parisian reveals that Domenech, who gave three interview sessions lasting 4 to 6 hours, would have chosen to keep the most violent passages from his diary and never asked to remove them as assured by a source close to the film crew. Like the former coach, the journalist Vincent Duluc, who officiates at The Team and who intervened during the documentary, did not appreciate it. Ditto for Franck Ribéry, of whom Domenech suggested that he would be the famous mole in spite of himself. “Mamma Mia Domenech, I love you very much. Just…I’ll save the real story for later. Come on ciao bello.” Other players have also watched this documentary and are furious with Domenech assures The Parisian. One of them, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke to the newspaper.

Anelka enjoyed the documentary

“The big lesson of this documentary is really that Raymond Domenech is a huge asshole. To say that I thought he was more human. He screwed us all the way.” Nicolas Anelka, who was in conflict with the coach, did not react publicly. But François Manardo, former press chief for the Blues, said about him: “I spoke to him yesterday on the phone and he had just seen the documentary. He told me that he was amazed by its quality and that he didn’t expect the atmosphere to be so well conveyed. He found the speakers excellent, even Raymond.” On RMC Sport, he also gave his version of the clash between the coach and the attacker. “Nicolas confirmed to me on Saturday morning that there had been an altercation, and told me: “I never insulted the coach, I told him to go fuck himself, him and his shitty team.”

Manardo concluded by sending a final dig to the former coach. “When I read his outraged message on X, I first thought that it wasn’t him who had written it. There is no fault…(…)I fell from the skyscraper when I learned about the diary trick. Looking back, I say to myself: how could we hope to win with a coach who had such bitterness in him? What is certain is that Raymond Domenech is the big loser after the broadcast of this documentary. He is criticized from all sides and the players are very angry with him. But knowing the character and his contempt for his players, that’s not what annoys him the most.
