Le Mans officially promoted, Bastia doubly sanctioned

The LFP Disciplinary Commission delivered its verdict after the incidents that occurred during the Ligue 2 match between Bastia and Le Mans on Saturday.

This time, Le Mans can officially celebrate. In a press release published this Wednesday evening, the Disciplinary Commission of the Professional Football League (LFP) noted the rise in Ligue 1 of Manceaux as well as the relegation of Bastia.

A decision which follows the incidents that occurred during the meeting between the two teams, last Saturday, on behalf of the last day of Ligue 2. The match was interrupted at the start of added time (90+1) after firecrackers and smoke bombs were thrown from the Corsican public at the time of the second goal for the Sang et Or, then provisionally second in the standings.

Bastia relegated

“After reading the investigation report, the Commission decides to definitively ratify the score acquired on the field at the time of the final interruption of the match (0-2 in favor of Le Mans FC)”it is indicated in the press release.

The Bastiais, seventeenth at the start of the match, are therefore officially relegated to Ligue 3 after this defeat. The Commission also decided to impose on the club “the following sanction: 2 fixed matches and 1 suspended match behind closed doors at the Armand Cesari stadium. »
