In the Netflix documentary dedicated to Knysna, we learn that Franck Ribéry is undoubtedly the mole that Patrice Evra and the Blues were looking for during the 2010 World Cup. Even crazier: he may not even know about it.

Franck Ribéry during the 2010 World Cup, we remember above all an object and a scene. The tap shoes that the Munich resident wore on his feet when he went to the Téléfoot set to ask “forgiveness” to all the French for the behavior of the Blues during this World Cup, and to ensure that his relationship with Yoann Gourcuff was not that bad.

In this broadcast, Ribéry also highlighted the role of the media, at a time when his captain Patrice Evra was looking for the “mole” who had revealed to L’Equipe the altercation between Nicolas Anelka and Raymond Domenech at half-time of the match against Mexico. Surprise, the mole in question would ultimately be Ribéry himself.

It all started with a little sentence dropped by the Bavarian in front of a journalist. “The start was a discussion with Ribéry in the mixed zone at the end of the match,” says Domenech. And Franck would have said ‘oh damn the coach at half-time with Nico, it was hot’. From there, journalists started looking. So they called the brothers, the agents, all the contacts they had with the players… And it was from there that all the information was sealed. »

Ribéry, an unknown mole?

As for L’Equipe, we confirm having heard of the information from a TV journalist who had heard about the incident. “ He tells us: at half-time, it was hot. There was a huge clash in the locker room between Raymond Domenech and Nicolas Anelka,” explains Sébastien Tarrago, who was one of those responsible for the football section of the newspaper. “ I tell my journalists: “Make some phone calls, send your messages to your contacts, and we’ll see. »

The rest is known. The argument between Domenech and Anelka ended up on the front page of the newspaper, with this infamous headline, which are the words then attributed to the Blues striker: “Fuck you, you dirty son of a bitch. » Which are not exactly those that the former PSG player would have said, obviously.

Nevertheless, everything would have started from this little sentence dropped by Ribéry. And Ribéry himself probably did not realize that he was somewhere at the origin of all this.
“The story itself is that the mole is unaware,” confirms Vincent Duluc, without mentioning the name “Francky”. That is to say that the player who revealed to a journalist that this had happened at half-time in the locker room is not aware that he is the mole, he still does not know it. »
