If M6’s choice to include Michou in its program for the 2026 World Cup caused controversy, the presence of Ophélie Meunier also caused reactions.

Last Wednesday, M6 made public its plan for the 2026 World Cup. Broadcaster of the event, the channel revealed the names of its various speakers. But the attention of many observers was particularly focused on Michou. For them, the streamer didn’t really have his place, not being a great football connoisseur. Pierre Ménès reacted to the controversy by mentioning the name of Ophélie Meunier.

On his YouTube channel, the former Canal+ employee gave his opinion this Tuesday on the presence of Michou, choosing to take everyone a bit on the wrong foot. For him, there is not much more reason to scream with horror at this choice of M6 than to include Ophélie Meunier in the casting.
“What bothers me a little is that they chose Michou when the man named Michou only has a very relative interest in football. »

And to continue his remarks. “They could have chosen YouTubers who were much more knowledgeable than him when it came to football. (…) Afterwards, the cries of startled virgins from Laurent Luyat and Cécile Grès (…). They’re talking about a competition they don’t even have the rights to. (…) We will see what Michou will or will not bring. »

Ophélie Meunier, “not a football specialist”

Then Pierre Ménès came to the case of Ophélie Meunier.
“What is extraordinary is that we are moved by the presence of Michou in the M6 team, but absolutely not by Ophélie Meunier who, too, is not a football specialist. These are false debates. And then there are so many people in the M6 ’team’ that indeed, putting a YouTuber who will attract a different population, I don’t find that more stupid than anything else. »

Every day, Ophélie Meunier will be presenting a magazine covering news from the 2026 World Cup. She will be surrounded by Smail Bouabdellah, Ludovic Giuly, Johan Djourou and Laure Lepailleur in particular. The former model is, however, not a novice in the small world of football since, for example, she presented the Champions League final last year between PSG and Inter Milan.
