A few days before the announcement of Didier Deschamps’ list, Esteban Lepaul, top scorer in Ligue 1, has no illusions.

Stade Rennais can still thank Esteben Lepaul. Because if the Breton club managed to overthrow Paris FC on Sunday, during the 33e day of Ligue 1, he owes it in particular to his young striker, scorer of the equalizing goal, two minutes before Breel Embolo doubled the lead.

Thanks to this goal, the former Angevin also consolidated his status as top scorer in Ligue 1 and reached the 20-goal mark this season. In Europe, there are only two French people who have been more prolific: Kylian Mbappé, author of 41 goals in all competitions, and Michael Olise, who has 22 goals, but only 15 in the league.

However, Esteban Lepaul should not appear in the list that Didier Deschamps will unveil this Thursday for the next World Cup. The person concerned has no illusions and has also explained that he did not receive any pre-summons. “Nothing at the moment anyway”he confided after the match against Paris FC.

“I don’t expect anything”

However, on Thursday he will be in front of the TF1 news, of which he is an avid spectator. “I’m going to have a quiet evening Thursday evening. I usually watch the 8 p.m. I watch the news so it won’t change from usual”he explained, adding:
“I don’t know if I’m in the debate but all I know is that I don’t expect anything. »

“It has no place in my head, he continued.
We are going to re-attack the week, prepare for this Marseille match as best we can because there is a bit of work to do to make the season extraordinary. »
