A 71-year-old man was arrested by Merseyside police after making racist insults during the match between Everton and Manchester City on Monday evening (3-3). The supporter has since been released on bail, with a ban on coming within 1.6 km of any sports venue in the four hours before and after each match.
The insults would have targeted Antoine Semenyo, while his teammate Marc Guéhi was the target of a wave of racist messages on social networks in the evening. Manchester City wanted to react firmly: “we will continue to provide our full support to Antoine and Marc, and we will never accept any form of discrimination in our sport.»
