Paris FC will not make the same mistake. The failure to recruit a new scorer last summer clearly hampered the first part of the season for the Parisian team. Promoted to Ligue 1, the club owned by the Arnault family has spent a lot (much more than half of the teams in the championship) for distressing results. Lucas Stassin and Mathis Abline being considered too expensive, the PFC recruited Willem Geubbels from FC Saint-Gall, for 9 million euros, and it was not conclusive (4 goals in 22 matches).
Fortunately, Antoine Kombouaré, appointed to the Parisian sidelines in February, has restored order within the team, now 11th in the standings, with 13 points ahead of the red zone. Otavio, the most expensive recruit at 17 million, or Maxime Lopez were left out of the eleven and the experienced Kevin Trapp, Pierre Lees-Melou, Marshall Munetsi, Jonathan Ikoné or Moses Simon held the house to make Ilan Kebbal and Ciro Immobile (author of two goals in 11 matches since his arrival in the capital) shine.
A Ligue 1 nugget at Paris FC?
Even if the Italian veteran Immobile extends the adventure (at 36 years old, he is not at all made for Ligue 1), Paris FC will have to strengthen offensively. And finally in a judicious way. The trail leading to Pablo Pagis could be a big success. The 23-year-old striker is leaving FC Lorient after excellent performances in the elite. He scored his 10th goal at the Parc des Princes last Saturday.
According to West FranceRC Lens, Olympique Lyonnais and Stade Rennais, three clubs which will compete in a European Cup next season, are closely following the son of Mickaël Pagis. But Paris FC is ready to win by agreeing to a significant financial effort. The striker trained in Rennes and Lorient grew up in Marseille for a while and is a big supporter of OM, but the Marseille club, which is preparing to experience a chaotic summer, doesn’t really have the means to beat the competition.
