AC Milan could already see Adrien Rabiot, Max Allegri and Luka Modric leave!

Last summer, AC Milan did a good job. Deprived of the European Cup for the 2025/2026 financial year, due to a poor eighth place acquired last season, the Lombard club was able to react well. On the bench, the very experienced Massimiliano Allegri had succeeded Sergio Conceição and the Rossoneri had managed to attract some flashy names such as Christopher Nkunku, Adrien Rabiot or Luka Modric despite a year promised to fight only on Italian territory.

Allegri ready to jump ship?

The objective of the Milanese management was clear: bet big to immediately return to European places with, as a priority, a return to the Champions League. Three days before the end of the championship, AC Milan is well placed to achieve its objective. The Rossoneri are third in the standings and can still steal the vice-champion place from Napoli. But there is a but… The Milanese are also within striking distance (3 points) of fifth (AS Roma), first not qualified for the next C1.

Suffice to say that the receptions of Atalanta and Cagliari and the trip to Genoa will be worth gold for the Rossoneri. In its columns, the Gazzetta dello Sport also announces that the stakes are colossal for Milan at the end of the season. In short: if the Lombards fall out of the top 4, this will have serious consequences for the club and the project will be revised downwards. The scenario seems a bit alarmist, but the current state of form of Allegri’s men (3 defeats, 1 victory and 1 draw in the last 5 matches) has created doubt among the seven-time winners of the Champions League.

Stars on the way out?

Concretely, the Gazzetta dello Sport explains that coach Allegri could already be leaving. Milan is aiming for the C1 and if it finishes in the top 4, its coach’s contract will be automatically extended until 2028. On the other hand, if Milan finishes fifth and finds itself transferred to the Europa League, Allegri would probably leave the ship. And that’s not all. Without the Champions League, the pink paper newspaper adds that Luka Modric’s signed extension could be shattered and that a key element of the team like Adrien Rabiot could also leave, especially if his mentor Allegri leaves. Without forgetting that Milan would risk having to reluctantly part with several big salaries (Rafael Leão, Christian Pulisic, Mike Maignan).

Finally, such a decline would also have consequences on recruitment. There Gazza assures that Milan would have an envelope significantly less than €100 million. This still leaves room to recruit, but several targets would undoubtedly become more difficult to seduce (Gabriel Jesus, Romelu Lukaku, Ismaël Koné, Robert Lewandowski). In addition, the transalpine daily reminds that participation in C1 is much less sexy for players than C3. This is also why Swiss Manuel Akanji snubbed AC Milan to join Inter last summer. You will have understood, Milan no longer has the right to make mistakes between now and May 24.
