Real Madrid are still looking for their future coach, and the avenues are multiplying behind the scenes.

Who will be the next Real coach? In Madrid, the vagueness remains total. For several weeks, the Spanish press has been fueling speculation and multiplying leads, with names like José Mourinho, Mauricio Pochettino, Lionel Scaloni and Unai Emery. On the other hand, the Jürgen Klopp track now seems closed.

One element, however, seems certain: Álvaro Arbeloa will no longer be on the Merengue bench next season. And one name comes up insistently: that of Zinedine Zidane. According to A.S.the former Madrid coach could even have taken charge recently, proof that his profile remains a credible option in the eyes of the leaders.

Zidane said no

Behind the scenes, president Florentino Pérez would have tried it in December, when the club was looking for a successor to Xabi Alonso, shortly before his departure. The objective was clear: convince Zidane to return for a third term. But this time, the Frenchman would have declined the proposal.

Still according to the Spanish daily, Zidane has already given his word to the French Football Federation to succeed Didier Deschamps at the head of the France team. A timing which would have weighed heavily, the Madrid call being considered too late. Since his departure in 2021, Zidane has in fact restricted his options to only two destinations: the Blues or a return to Madrid. A strong choice, which explains his repeated refusals in the face of the numerous requests received in recent years.
