In a particular context in Liverpool, where the club is preparing to turn an important page with the announced departures of several figures from the Jürgen Klopp era, Mohamed Salah wanted to recall the importance of the respect due to legends. While the Egyptian and Andrew Robertson are among the last few survivors of the victorious cycle marked by the conquest of the Champions League in 2019 then the Premier League title, the number 11 of the Reds took advantage of an interview granted to TNT Sports to return to the case of Jordan Henderson, former captain of the club. The Englishman, who left in 2023 after 12 years at Anfield without a real farewell ceremony, remains, according to him, a symbol poorly treated by the institution.

Salah thus insisted on the need to correct this symbolic injustice during the last match of the season, against Brentford, where Henderson will return to Anfield. “He didn’t get the goodbye he deserved”recalled the Egyptian striker, believing that his former captain had been instrumental in the club’s greatest successes. In this same spirit, he hopes that Liverpool will also be able to offer a worthy exit to himself and Andrew Robertson, two other pillars near the end of their cycle, in order to fully respect the legacy built under Klopp and thus extended under Arne Slot.
