It is an understatement to say that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has transformed PSG – he has undoubtedly sublimated the collective set up by Luis Enrique – since his arrival on January 17, 2025, for 70 million euros. With their talented Georgian winger, the Rouge et Bleu overturned everything in their path until the coronation in the Champions League at the end of a final won 5-0 against Inter Milan. “Kvara” scored his team’s 4th goal against the Nerazzurri during this crazy evening in Munich.
Kvaratskhelia is a top player, capable of carrying his team in major events, and the 25-year-old has demonstrated this since the knockout phase of the C1. He scored against AS Monaco (in the return), against Chelsea (a double which allowed the Parisians to win 5-2 in the first leg, then the opener at Stamford Bridge), in front of Liverpool (the 2nd goal in the first leg) and, finally, Tuesday evening when Bayern came to the Parc des Princes, in the semi-final first leg, with a double full of talent. His equalizer in the 24th minute, with another solo action, was crucial.
Here he is at 10 goals in the LDC this season and only Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reached the 10 goal mark with PSG in this competition, in 2013-2014.
Kvaratskhelia beaten by three teammates
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, however, is not among the five nominated for the UNFP Trophy for best player in Ligue 1 this season. The former Neapolitan was less decisive, certainly, with 7 goals and 4 assists in 25 matches, but he is obviously one of the most talented players in the French championship. The L1 players voted for this award and, usually not looking at the stats, they could easily have included it in the top 5.
The title will probably go to another PSG crack. The defending champion and 2025 Ballon d’or Ousmane DembĂ©lĂ© is accompanied by Vitinha and Nuno Mendes in the five nominees, Florian Thauvin and Mason Greenwood completing the line-up. The 2018 world champion brilliantly took RC Lens to 2nd place in the rankings, while the English prodigy is the second top scorer for a Marseille team which is having a nightmare season.
