Canal+ continues to weave its web on the sports rights market. After renewing its partnership with UEFA until 2031 for the broadcast of the Champions League, the Europa League and the Conference League on French territory, the private group announced on Friday the extension of its European partnership with UC3, which allows it to establish itself permanently in several foreign countries. Also for four additional seasons from 2027.
This international contract thus provides: in Poland, the renewal of 100% of the rights of the C1 exclusively; in Austria, the acquisition of 100% of the rights to the C3 and C4 exclusively; in Switzerland, the renewal of one match per day of the Champions League and the Europa League or the Conference League in French and on a co-exclusive basis. But that’s not all. On the other side of the Belgian border, Canal+ also achieved another masterstroke.
Between Canal+ and UEFA, it’s a match!
As in France, 100% of the matches of the three European Cups will be broadcast exclusively on the group’s channels across Quiévrain. “This expanded portfolio underlines Canal+’s ambition to further strengthen its leading position in premium European football,” welcomes the company in a press release. “We are very proud to further strengthen our partnership with UC3 by securing key European markets until 2031”declares Maxime Saada.
The president is “particularly delighted” of this agreement: “Canal+ is now, more than ever, the largest broadcaster of the UEFA men’s club competitions in Europe and more widely in the world, with rights in more than 50 countries. I would like to sincerely thank UC3 and Relevent Football Partners for their renewed confidence in the editorial expertise of Canal+ and in our ambition to offer the best of European football to fans. »
